Delicious! I had chicken enchiladas, loved the queso fresco and the pico de gallo. We had calamari as an appetizer and you could tell it was fresh, not frozen and it was excellent. Only complaint was the refried beans were a little bit salty for my tastes but I still would recommend this place for authentic Mexican! We will definitely be back!

Cheap and authentic Mexican. Fresh tortillas, homemade salsa and juice. The head chef will start on your order as you place it worth the hostess. (He understands better English). He usually has something new for me to try and will often times throw in some chips, good business man. They have excellent al pastor, tripe, all the meats you'd be looking for, jarritos, etc. Dress your tacos at the bar and be on your way. Awkward dining room, but outside tables available for some privacy. Friendly customer service, will return.

This food is truly sensational. Chicken Quesadilla was ethereal. Very reasonably priced - tacos $1.50 (and only 25 cents for deluxe style) + amazing horchata... anyhow the list goes on. Easily rivals what is thought to be the best hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in Orlando - which I raved about in earlier Yelping. but NOTE: The address here on Yelp is wrong - it's 1555 N. Semoran (right next to 20/20 Eyeglass).

My wife and I came here and got the enchiladas and fajitas. We are from Texas and haven't been able to find Mexican food like back home so we were really excited to find a local business to support. Looks like they also serve breakfast tacos as well. Great food. Will come back again.

Not so great. Greasy fajitas, mediocre food and no margaritas. I would not go back.

Stopped in here for lunch after getting set for glasses at 20/20 and was wowed. Luckily I had to come back to 20/20 to pick the glasses up the next morning, which gave me an excuse to get a breakfast burrito(outrageously delicious). That was a few months ago, and I only just now got to come back. I brought my family this time. My step father ordered a taco of each type of meat and was suitably impressed, which is saying quite a lot because he has high standards for Mexican food. He was floored by their pork. My mom had a carne asada taco and a fish taco. She said the fish taco was the best she'd ever had. The fish was a whole filet, and clearly hand-breaded. I had had my eye on their big combination of meats for 15ish dollars since the last time i had been and decided to go for it this time. I was expecting a rather large platter with everything arrayed on it. What i got was a huge sizzling cauldron of assorted meaty awesomeness, complete with peppers and onions. Almost like a huge bowl fajita. This came with flour and corn tortillas, with a plate of rice and refried beans on the side. My only regret is that I didn't have the presence of mind to snap a picture of the sizzling meat volcano before devouring it. When we ate there the chef was running a one-man show taking orders and cooking. The guy is a rockstar!

I was with my wife getting new glasses at 20/20 and saw they had a deal of buy four tacos and get a free soda. Went in and the food was good. The place is new, the owners original store is located on South Orange Blossom Trail. The place will serve alcohol, but the day I went they still didn't have a license so I was unable to order. Food is nicely price, looks good and taste great.

Yummy tacos! Great authentic Mexican food and it's close to home which is convenient and great. The homemade guacamole is yummy. Great new little place for quick and delicious food. Food usually takes less than 10 minutes to make.

yay!!!! I finally found an awesome Mexican restaurant near me!!! I've lived in California (Bay Area) my entire life, and I've been privileged enough to have numerous authentic Mexican restaurants near me, but since moving to Florida I've tried three different places and hate all of them! They were either white washed or extremely bland, but this place rocks! Really nice staff, very accomodating, and the food is great! GET IT!!!

This is hands down my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in Orlando. Authentic in every way and delicious. My husband and I love to try new places... so we stopped here on a Friday to try it out and immediately came back the Saturday then back again on Monday. My absolute favorite dish is the carne asada tacos with fresh lime and cilantro. Everything is made to order, you can easily taste the difference to other places in town. The best part? This place is very budget friendly. Tacos are around $1.50 each. Giant, cold beers are only several bucks. Highly recommend to try this place, but be careful... it's so good you'll soon be coming by several times a week!

Wow. Such an amazing cuisine for so little money. The food's presentation is beautiful and artistic with taco stand prices. Oscar took really good care of us. I had the asada gordita and a shrimp taco. Both excellent. We wish they had margaritas, but other then that, a perfect experience.

Found this place on yelp when we were looking for a good lunch spot. All the positive reviews lured us in to give it a try. I had an Asada quesadilla and found it to be above average. My husband had 4 different tacos to try out all the different meat options. He was very pleased. The chef here is extremely friendly and even brought us a free dessert! He encouraged us to come back for dinner in the future to try the steak. We will have to do that! If I could mention any opportunities for improvement, it would be to bring back the salsa bar I heard so much about in the other reviews, and also stop charging $1.25 for water (no tap water available- must buy bottled water).

My friends and I had a delicious late lunch here today. Nadia & Oscar were not only efficient but a delight to talk to. My friends had enchiladas, steak with red salsa, chicken with green salsa. The food was plentiful and delicious. I had a fish taco and a gordita. The fish taco was good but the gordita was amazing! We will be returning for another fabulous lunch.

Stopped here before my contact appt at 20/20. The quesadillas are fabulous! The waitress, Nadia, is very courteous and gives great customer service. ***Will definitely be taking my husband back here. We have found our Mexican restaurant diamond. Dos Amigos, Winter Park on 436...Thank you!!!

El compá cocina bien! The homie cooks good! I'm not crazy about writing long reviews. Either you take my word for it or don't. You're wondering does this guy know what good Mexican food is? I do. I cook it. I grew up on it. Generations of the culture gueyes. Try more than just your typical tacos or burritos. The man cooks bomb food. That means everything he gets his hands on its a guaranteed success. Just ask my Puertorican neighbor. In his words, "La comida le quedo cab***".

Went here because the reviews were good. Not impressed. The food was a little pricey, but there was plenty. My wife and I had the fajitas for 2 special. I recommend avoiding that. It came with beef, chicken and shrimp. While the shrimp was cooked well, the chicken and beef were dry and tough. All the sauces were overly tomato heavy and almost everything had mozzarella cheese. So they have an odd mexican/Italian flavor to thier salsa and fajitas. Additionally they offer calamari and tiramisu, which I don't generally consider authentic mexican dishes. The staff was extremely friendly but I would not consider the food "authentic" mexican.

The Trout and mashed potatoes dish was fantastic! Chef Oscar is wonderful and a master chef. You need to try this restaurant. Fun place with Karaoke on Saturday night!

Being half Mexican, I have been searching for an authentic Mexican restaurant since I moved here from Chicago 10 years ago. Although I have found some decent places none have been amazing. So, when I heard Los Dos Amigos Taqueria had some true potential, I grabbed my mom and rushed on over. The restaurant is in a plaza, it's quite small, and the décor is very humble - all good signs! I noticed the chair I grabbed was broken - I included a pic - no biggie I grabbed another. Still, I was hopeful the food would be of better quality. The waitress was not very good, she was not especially polite nor helpful, but then the owner came to our table, greeted us, explained the menu, offered items not listed, and took our order! We were very impressed with him; he was jovial but serious about his food. Now the food: he recommended cucumber limeade which was addictive - seriously! I dislike overly sweet drinks and I found this one to be perfectly sour, sweet, and very refreshing. The cucumber was not in slices, as one would think, it was pureed in there and you could see little specks of green, but it didn't change the viscosity, it was good 'ol limeade. I really want to go back and buy a gallon. My mother had Horchata (rice drink) but I found it too sweet. The chips and salsa were average, the salsa was not memorable. We ordered guacamole, it was fresh to order and great quality avocados. My mom ordered the trout, per his suggestion, and we were floored by the size - it was huge! She was very pleased with it, and I found it well-seasoned, though I am not a trout lover. I ordered a taco al pastor (seasoned, slow cooked-pork), a sope with carne asada, and a side of rice and beans. A sope, for those that are wondering, is like a thick corn tortilla with a semi soft center and somewhat crispy outside. It is laid flat and then covered (typically) in refried beans, a meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and crumbled queso fresco which is a slightly salty white cheese, reminiscent of goat cheese but not so creamy. I have to say the carne asada was average, not bad and not good. The sope in its entirety, however, was great, lots of fresh veggies and even garnished beautifully with avocado slices. I highly recommend it though I will try a different meat next time. The rice and beans were good, better than average, though a bit salty. Here's the really exciting part... the taco. The humble yet proud taco al pastor was phenomenal! This was hands down the best al pastor meat I've had outside of Mejico. Ridiculous. Best part of the meal. I plan to return and give the carne asada another try and also confirm that the taco is consistently good and wasn't just a fluke. I really like this restaurant and think they're on the precipice of something really special - though they do have some tightening up to do. Also, my mom is in a wheelchair, so accessibility is always important, and we found the restaurant had ample room as the tables weren't too crowded together. The bathroom was large and very clean, though not pretty. Personally, I don't care how pretty it is as long as it's clean - gives me an idea of their overall cleanliness.

I had a variety of tacos and wasn't pleased. The worst of it was chewy carnitas. The others were just so-so. The menu has cabeza and lengua but they don't really have them. The salsa was just spiced tomato juice. The place was empty at 12:30 lunch time. I mean totally deserted. I had to ask for napkins with my take out since I have to do the servers job too. Not sure what the hype is about or where the high ratings come from. I'm not coming back.

Simple restaurant in a strip mall off of Semoran, I can dig it! Stopped by here for a friday night dinner of tacos. As we were entering, the remaining two tables were coincidentally finishing up and leaving. We were greeted enthusiastically and told to sit anywhere. The chef explained to us that there was an off menu fajita special for two and that they also serve Puerto Rican Cuisine. Wait, what was that? Secret menu items for the diner who doesn't like ordering off menus? OH MY! If I wasn't so deadset on ordering tacos, then I would have gladly asked the chef to whip me up a surprise dinner. In the end, we got an order of queso dip, 3 carne asada, 3 chorizo, and 3 al pastor tacos. I enjoyed everything except the al pastor. The meat was dry and the sauce was extra greasy. I think the chef forgot about us halfway through our meal since we were the only diners in the restaurant. My bf had to go flag him down so we could get our check and togo containers, lol. All in all, this place has yummy food so a return visit is a must. Heads up, they only have bottled drinks, including water.

Los Dos Amigos Restaurant is serving by far the best Mexican food around this area. Craving some decent Mexican cuisine and continually striking out, I pulled into this unassuming shopping center with a sign indicating "tacos". Though my expectations were low on that first visit, I was completely blown away by the friendliness of Oscar, who is the chef/owner, and the quality of the food. Not only is the food fantastic, the prices are extremely reasonable, ie $1.50 for tacos, $5.00 for gorditas, $11.00 for fajitas. The staff has been wonderful... very friendly, attentive, and helpful in recommending their favorite dishes and preferences. They also carry 3-4 mexican beers ($3.50) and soft drinks. Dos Amigos Restaurant completely satisfied my craving of mexican cuisine, and has become my go to spot whenever that craving hits. Oscar has recently started cooking breakfast. While breakfast at a mexican restaurant sounds odd, and I received perplexed reactions from friends that I have invited, Oscar is willing to create whatever you are craving . . . omelettes, pancakes, breakfast burritos, traditional mexican breakfast . . . everything has been fantastic! I would highly recommend the breakfast burrito or the traditional Mexican dish, which was essentially an egg over easy with salsa and a side of beans/rice. The breakfast burrito was massive and delicious. Simply put, the food is fantastic, staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are fair and reasonable. Dos Amigos Restaurant is a welcome surprise in an area with subpar (ie amigos) and overpriced (park ave) Mexican restaurants. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and can only hope that Oscar continues to provide great Mexican cuisine for many years.

I've been looking for an authentic Mexican Restaurant in Orlando for a while. I found this place and decided to try it. I have to say, this is the most authentic Mexican food I've had since I moved to Orlando. The tacos are excellent! You have to try try the "tacos de Assad" and "barbacoa" with cilantro and onion. A real Mexican taco goes with cilantro and onion. The chef is amazing and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Best Mexican food in Orlando. Guacamole is awesome. We had the fajitas for two, it was enough food to feed four people. Oscar is also very friendly and courteous. We will be back for sure, highly recommend anyone to try it.

Pleasantly surprised with this restaurant that was tucked into a strip mall off of 436. The chef greeted us and told us the specials. Casual and laid back feel. Feels like I was in Mexico being greeted with local flavors and hospitality.

Nice whole in the wall place. Chef is very hospitable. I had sopes with asada. Also had horchata. The food was delicious. I definitely will go back for the service and food! The food arrived quickly. They need to fix the address issue.

Read the reviews and had to try it for myself! This amazing little authentic mexican restaurant is top notch! I stopped by two times in two days to try out different items, and to test service on different days. The first day, I came in to an empty store on a Sunday around noon. It felt like I had my own personal chef, and seating area. Very awesome. The waitress took my order very quickly, and gave us a " first timers" run down on the salsa bar. The food came out in under ten minutes, and was great serving temperature. I was blown away by the all the food I ordered. The chicken is fresh, and marinated in a special blend of spices. The cheese was perfect. I have raved about other quesadillas in the area, but this one has slipped into first place. I also ordered a couple tacos to try out there unique meats. DONT ASK FOR GROUND BEEF! This aint your taco bell. They offer Tri-tip, carne asada, marinated pork, steak, and chicken all for $1.50 a piece. The second day was the same as the first, only I got the chicken enchiladas instead. As I expected, they were absolutely delicious. I had a friend with me who got the big burrito, and he said it may be the best burrito he has ever had. On a Monday, I was expecting a little more people to be there eating, but again, the place was almost empty. They have two locations currently, and are a completely family owned and operated establishment. It shows in there work, they take great care in food preparation, and service to guests. Try their house made guacamole! All in all, I give this place 5 stars based on service, price, and amazing quality of food. I feel I shouldn't review this place because I don't want the secret to get out, but they deserve a great review, and many patrons. Give it a try!

The food was excellent! Been searching for good Mexican since I moved here from Texas. This is definitely my new taco spot! Excellent flavored meats with onions and cilantro only-just how I like it! I gave only 4 stars for two reasons. 1.) They mopped the floor while we were eating and the chemically smell changed the flavor of the food. 2.) We got the check and gave the waitress our card to pay. When we got it back she told us she forgot to put something on the check but she charged the card before she told us about the change. No big deal though. All in all definitely worth a try! Also, the chef used to work at Houstons steak house and he gets his beef from the same distributor. Haven't tried the steak yet but it's definitely on my to do list.

I was looking for authentic Mexican food close to home and I found it here. Everything is made in house with fresh ingredients. I ordered the steak fajitas. They were served quickly and the portion size was huge. I took half home for later. I'm looking forward to coming back to try other menu items.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
